North Yorkshire coast
Just come back from a great few days in North Yorkshire, stayed at a lovely little house in Speeton near Filey.
Visited Whitby and had the obligatory chips and ice cream also happened upon some works of art by a guy named Chris Geall in a gallery at the bottom of the steps below the Church. Since my parents have always loved local art like John Freeman and they bought an original Mackenzie Thorpe a few years ago I have also enjoyed the works of local artists.
Its great to see impressive oils for a change from watercolours that sometimes look a little insipid even when the subject is powerful and as raw as the North Yorkshire coast. Gealls art seems to capture more the metaphysical aspects of art that I like and of the nature and the beauty of places such as Whitby.
